"...The minute you try to communicate anything that is mildly, respectfully critical, people get defensive,” said Babb. “I feel the concerns of the community are not necessarily being received or considered as much as they should be by some.”
In Babb’s opinion, the board and superintendent have reversed roles. During a recent conference, Babb said board members were told that “seven board members and one superintendent should be a partnership, but the board should be the senior partner and the superintendent be the junior partner.”
“It is my concern that we have it backwards,” said Babb. “I hope it will change in time.”
Babb said in a FortBendNow candidates’ forum earlier this year that he did not believe Jenney should leave the district, that is was cost prohibitive and it was “best to attempt to work cooperatively to effectively address the challenges facing our district.”
In his three months as a trustee, that opinion has started to shift.
“It’s much different then I really thought,” said Babb. “…I was more interested in working together … I was not on the ‘dump Jenney’ bandwagon – after my experience with him, now I am walking towards that wagon.”
